Mountaineers camp here and at various higher camps for acclimatisation. The route further is through the notorious Khumbu icefall. Sherpas help to establish route and set up camps. Porters will transport the stores to the newly set camp. Climbers with the help of sherpa guides cross the glacier and reach camp 1 ( 5943 m, 6 hour ). Then climb down to Base camp. Again climb to camp 1 and stay at night. Then climb to camp 2 ( 6400 m, 6 hour ) and return back to camp 1. Then climb to camp 2 and spend a night here. Oxygen cylinders will help the climber during ascent. Further up is camp 3 ( 7162 m, 9 hour depending on your fitness and acclimatization level ), your last camp before summit. The climb requires rock climbing and climbing on snow skills. Night stay at camp 2. Then climb again to camp 3 with night halt. The route to summit is via South col ( 8016 m ) and Hillary step. “More like a trek with your Nepali Family” Fantastic trip! There was almost nothing that Sanjib left out in planning the trip for us- from nice clean accommodation; good food; great guide, Raj and porter, Hari; to even the smallest details. Where do I even begin to talk about Raj? Our wonderful buba (father)... Although much younger than any of us at the trip, he was so experienced and so caring. He exceeded all expectations and made us feel like we were part of a family on a trek together. Definitely recommended!
